Position Title: Litigation Administrative Assistant

Functional Area(s): Litigation Practice Area

Barulich Dugoni & Suttmann Law Group, Inc., is a Burlingame, CA based mid-sized law firm that specializes in sophisticated estate and tax planning, estate administration, and trust and estates litigation. The firm’s litigation practice includes trust and estates, general civil matters, tax, real estate, and other areas.

This position supports attorneys, paralegals and staff in the Litigation practice area. This includes assisting with calendaring, meeting arrangements, preparation of original documents for signing and notarizing, file management, copying and scanning projects, light document production, miscellaneous administrative tasks, and occasional running of errands and reception desk relief.

Qualifications:

Associate Arts or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Legal experience preferred, but not required. Existing Notary Public commission helpful.

Skills/Abilities:

The most desirable candidate will be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Advologix. The person in this role is required to be a flexible team player, well organized, able to perform accurate work, manage multiple priorities, and complete assigned projects in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment. Good oral and written communications skills and professional presence are required for this position.

Position Title: Human Resources Director

Barulich Dugoni & Suttmann Law Group, Inc. is looking for an HR Director to join our team. This individual will manage existing people and HR programs, implement changes and roll out new programs. To be successful in this role, this individual must be comfortable taking on a wide range of HR tasks, partnering with shareholders and executing effectively to achieve outcomes in a legal environment.

The goal of the HR Director will be to ensure the team’s operations run smoothly and effectively and deliver value to the organization as a whole.

Must have command of all Human Resource procedures: maintain personnel records, payroll administration, benefit programs, performance review process, workflow monitoring, staffing problem solving, staff mentor program, conflict resolution, and training. This is a full-time position.

Highly organized Computer proficient
Ability to work independently and as a team member

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of work experience with human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, training, performance management) involving applicable employment laws and policies
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field AND 7+ years of work experience with human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, training, performance management) involving applicable employment laws and policies

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • Human Resources Professional Certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM)

Responsibilities

  • Assess and administer HR policies, processes and workflows
  • Collaborate cross functionally with leadership and key shareholders to identify areas of improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency
  • Continuously improve upon the employee experience to employees such as onboarding, offboarding and key touchpoints in between
  • Partner with leaders to create a safe and inclusive working environment which regularly solicits feedback
  • Create and implement strategies for succession planning, career pathing and talent development
  • Partner with the Recruiting team on workforce planning, employer branding and diversity initiatives
  • Strong work ethic, and desire to achieve excellence; be comfortable with high volume workload, hands-on and not be afraid to roll up your sleeves

Position Title: Estate Planning/Administration Attorney

Barulich Dugoni & Suttmann Law Group, Inc., is looking for an Attorney with a focus in the area of estate administration, estate planning, and business succession planning. The candidate will have California Bar Admission and 3 years experience.

The primary areas of practice include complex estate administration, including drafting pleadings for collection of assets and modification of irrevocable trusts, compiling estate tax returns, and working closely with clients on collecting and valuing assets; basic and sophisticated estate planning, including family succession planning, irrevocable trusts, and compiling gift tax returns; and business planning, including formation and operation. Experience and knowledge with generation-skipping transfer tax planning, irrevocable gift trusts, family limited partnerships is a plus.

Qualifications:

California Bar Admission required. Estate, gift, and income tax background preferred. LLM in tax a plus, but not required.

Skills/Abilities:

Candidates must be organized, efficient, and detail oriented, with the ability to prioritize and follow through to completion. Candidates are expected to have the ability, with assistance from the firm, to develop new business and build a practice. Must be self-motivated, inspire client confidence and have excellent academic credentials as the firm prides itself on performing high quality and complex legal work in a cost-efficient manner.
